This story is a fantastic debut for Blake Pitcher. His powers of observation shine through with this intimate look at small-town life and how differing frames of reference can be woven together into an extraordinary narrative about an extraordinary event.Pitcher's style fuses staccato-like rhythm with overwhelming descriptive prose down to the most infinitesimal detail. This story is a true delight to read and includes all of the hallmarks of a classic whodunit: desire, betrayal, jealousy, intrigue... yet it isn't really a mystery. Pitcher has found a way to take what could easily have been a straight-laced detective story and transmute it into a much more interesting read.

Pretty sure the author was dropping acid. Since I'm not, I couldn't make the least bit or sense of this.
