There was a sense of the last week of school all over the AO.
Explosions still echoed in the city a few times a week, and every now and then a spray of automatic fire could be heard. In spite of that, throughout the camps, there was a feeling of drawing back; a zeitgeist of something ending. Sure, there’d be the frenzy of packing up and pulling out. But then the Iraqis could have the whole shitpile back and it was their problem from then on. They could get back to wasting one another in earnest with the infidels far away. Happy New Year, motherfuckers.
Unless, of course, some Iraqi-based jihadist did dirty on American soil again. Then shock and awe would roll back into town to ruin everyone’s day.
The SEALs in theater were still forward positioned; waiting to see what brand of crap hit the fan next in this Arab Spring everyone was hollering about. No one knew where the next blaze was going to start. Until anyone knew what was what and what to do about it, the SEALs would stay sharp and focused. Bricks Three, Five and Seven had taken over a corner of Camp Slayer; part of the massive Liberty complex protecting Baghdad International. Three squads of SEALs and their support staff moved into a climate-controlled warehouse that had recently had all of its stock containerized and transshipped to Bagram for use in that “other” war.

Having read several of this type of book this is one of the better accounts. It was one of those books I'd read until 3 in the morning and still didn't really want to stop. Shows some of what they go through in training as I can remember them on the grinder in the morning usually around 3 and coming back at sunset after having spent the day in the water.
Being a ex Navy man I really enjoy stories of different Military Services also as a retired police officer I also enjoy Police mysteries.. I read Seal Team Six 1 and now reading book 2 and will continue reading these series until there are no more..The author really gets you involved in the book and keeps your attention because you never know what's going to happen next..To the author KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK I REALLY ENJOY YOUR BOOKS..
I'm currently on book five .I read book one and have continued in order( I recommend doing so) .The author makes one feel the edge of your seat action.American exceptionalism at it's best.I wish are country and our leaders had half the guts the real Seals have .Read these books you will not be disappointed .Chuck Dixon is in a CLASS all by himself .These books are truly hard to put down.
When I first purchased this book I was surprised at the great reviews it had compared to its low price. After reading, I completely agree with most of the reviews, that this is a really good book. Very hard to set down once you start reading. Yes, as mentioned there are some edit errors etc. but by no means enough to take away the "good read" catagory for this book.
I liked the first one better. Maybe because this one seemed so similar, just a different setting. Lots of repeating. Good action where it occurs. Second half of the book is pretty good.
I also took one star away because one would think if you were writing about the Navy you would at least know the Navy rating system. He keeps calling a Seaman Apprentice an (E3) in both books when in point of fact a Seaman Apprentice is an (E2). An (E3) is a full Seaman. I'd tell him but he doesn't seem to have any contact information readily available.

In the follow up to Seal team one, we go to the recent turmoil in Libya. A shorthanded but able SEAL team infiltrates into civil war torn Libya. With his typical flair, Chuck Dixon takes on an action packed thrill ride. fast paced action, boohissable villains, even light comedy in the banter. Best part a subplot involving a Libyan rebel fighting alongside a German blogger and a Muslim extremist. My only problem was what felt like an abrupt ending. Definitely worth the $2.99
